The Wait?

A number of us wait for things, could be for a person or to reach a goal. But it almost fascinates me that no matter how much we have or attain there is this existential void in our life, a void which is there due to being estranged from the divine.

Some will say waiting means one is not living 'today' the 'now'. But the above brings one to the conclusion that we can fulfill as much as we like to near our hearts content, but the void of reaching the divine can only be attained when the meeting has reached its maximum...

Waiting
The song I came to sing
remains unsung to this day.
I have spent my days in stringing
and in unstringing my instrument.

The time has not come true,
the words have not been rightly set;
only there is the agony
of wishing in my heart.....

I have not seen his face,
nor have I listened to his voice;
only I have heard his gentle footsteps
from the road before my house.....

But the lamp has not been lit
and I cannot ask him into my house;
I live in the hope of meeting with him;
but this meeting is not yet.

~Rabindranath Tagore
